School of Advanced Study Postgraduate Open Day Wednesday 10 February 2010
The School is the UK’s national centre for the facilitation and promotion of research in the humanities and social sciences and is located in Bloomsbury, central London. The School offers a range of specialist postgraduate study and research programmes in its areas of expertise, in the following broad subject areas: American, Caribbean and Latin American studies; cultural studies; English studies; history; history of art; human rights; law; modern languages; politics, international relations and development; Renaissance studies.
Our Open Day provides a fantastic opportunity to find out more about the School, its postgraduate programmes, funding opportunities and more. Visitors to our Open Day will be able to choose from a selection of sessions and tours, including:
• Institute and course presentations
• Funding Your Study
• Careers
• What is a PhD?
• Research Training
• University of London precinct and library tours
• Individual consultation with academic staff
Registration begins at 2.30pm and the Open Day sessions and tours take place from 3.00pm, culminating in an evening reception at 6.00pm. Visitors can choose from the selection of optional presentations and tours to create their own Open Day schedule and for those unable to attend during the day, the evening reception provides an informal opportunity to meet with staff, students and alumni of the School. Please feel free to bring guests – guest places will need to be booked so that we can arrange catering.
