The Calendar Project
COMPETITION:
We are looking for a 3 colour illustration around the theme of self motivation. We will judge the submissions on their own merit, not your previous CV or client list. We are looking for illustrations which amuse us and ring a bell of truth about the struggle we face as ambitious, creative people, who are alas, only human and sometimes lazy and easily distracted. We are also looking for people who can work creatively with the Risograph process.
12 Submissions will be chosen to feature in the calendar, which will be sold in our own Brighton and online shop and some very exciting selected shops (more details coming soon on this). Each winning artist will receive two copies of the calendar and will be fully credited within.
There will be one overall winner chosen with the help of our guest judge (to be announced soon) they will receive a RISO Print Gocco Kit, especially delivered from Japan. The kit includes; printer, inks, bulb and everything you need to get you printing. Not sure what it is? It's super cool check it out here www.savegocco.com/what-is-gocco/
SPECIFICATIONS:
We are looking for a 3 colour illustration which is 190mm x 190mm with a 3mm bleed all the way around. Initial submission should be: 300 dpi , flattened image saved as JPEG or PDF no more than 5megs. Uploaded to our website.
Winning submissions will need to be provided at 600 dpi, with each colour on a separate layer PSD or Ai file. The colours you must work with are Teal [66aab8], Fluro Pink [f50e69] and Yellow [fff160] - these are the approximate Hexadecimal colour matches to give you an idea to work with. There are three colours, however these can be layered to create new colours, if you have not worked with Risograph before research it to get the most out the process (brief guide below) The layers are printed separately so the registration may also not be perfect, allow for this within the design. You will need to work with each colour on a layer. Initially we would like you to submit a JPEG or PDF, however if you are chosen for the calendar you will need to supply each layer separately for print, so keep the original file with layers in it! Also please save work the original to 600 dpi this will be required to print.
