Student & Graduate Textile & Fashion Comp launch event

Textile Futures Research Centre (TFRC) is working with US apparel company VF Corporation, to launch an exciting student and graduate competition.

It is open to all UAL textile and fashion students and recent graduates (2 yrs) from Central St Martins, London College of Fashion and Chelsea College of Art.
Ten students will be chosen to work with a TFRC mentor and be given £250 for materials. The final winner will be given £1500 and flown to the VF Innovation Summit in the US in September.

The launch event will be on Monday 21st February 2011, 2 – 6pm, Lecture Theatre, 272 High Holborn (round the corner from CSM Southampton Row campus).

The competition covers five future textiles themes, that all have aspects of sustainability running through them. With an impressive line-up of world-leading textile designers and researchers planned to speak, the event should be really insightful and worth attending, even if studnets/graduates are not sure whether or not to enter the competition.

Speakers include Dr Emma Neuberg (Slow Textiles Group) and Suzanne Lee (BioCouture) with more to be announced soon.
