Design a print for Ted Baker’s Autumn/Winter 2011 collection
The student will also be at the centre of a buzzing PR campaign and be featured in the UK’s top fashion titles. As part of the prize, the winner will also get the chance to see how their design will go into production with an invaluable and insightful design work placement at the Ted Baker London Head Office. You will also win £500 of Ted Baker gift vouchers to spend in the Bluewater store.
THE DESIGN THEME
The competition theme is ‘The Garden of England’, drawing inspiration from Kent, Bluewater’s home county. Looking at Kent life, students can research Kent’s historic past, nature, economy and iconic landmarks for ideas.
Using research skills to identify the design philosophy and principles of the Ted Baker brand, the print design should embody the style, quirky nature and direction of Ted Baker collections, whilst incorporating an element to honour Bluewater as the sponsor.
THE BRIEF
Researching the Ted Baker brand history, current collections, design style, and drawing inspiration from Bluewater, design a print that can be translated onto a variety of silhouettes from the Ted Baker collection.
The design should be forward-thinking but commercially viable, encompassing the Autumn Winter 2011 trends. Students can choose to submit either men’s OR women’s designs, but not both.
HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR DESIGN
You must submit your design in the following format, for each print design:
1 x jpeg or PDF of the whole print design.
Your print design applied to 3 x shapes presented on A4 or A3 page saved as a jpeg or PDF
1 x document presenting either a moodboard or a one-page of research on your inspiration and how you came to the final print design. Jpeg, PDF or Word Doc.
Signed Student Contract
NOTE: Each jpeg or PDF should be saved as no more than 2MB.
Send to pr@kleinororke.com
For students wanting to know more about the brands and competition requirements, Ted Baker and Bluewater will be hosting a seminar at 10am on Tuesday 9th November at London College of Fashion campus (John Princess Street) in Room 418a.
