Sotheby’s Institute of Art announces Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) Award
For the academic year 2011-12, applications are invited for three Professional Preparation Masters Studentships. Each of these studentships will cover the full cost of tuition in one of the Institute’s six MA programmes: MA in Art Business, MA in Contemporary Art, MA in Fine & Decorative Art, MA in Photography, MA in Contemporary Design and MA in East Asian Art.
Eligibility
Applications are open only to UK citizens or permanent residents who have settled status in the UK for the three years directly prior to the time of application (this means that candidates must have indefinite right to remain in the U.K.).
Please Note:
To apply to the AHRC Studentship candidates need to have previously received an offer of a place on one of the six MA programmes at Sotheby’s Institute of Art- London.
Application to the MA programmes at Sotheby’s Institute of Art may be made at the same time as that of the AHRC funded studentship.

Applicants to the AHRC Studentship must also submit a personal statement and essay question.
Personal Statement (approximately 800 words):
Discuss how the MA programme of your choice (please stipulate) will build on your learning and experience, to date. In addition, please reflect on ways in which this MA will progress your career aspirations going forward.
Essay Question (approximately 2500 words):
“It could be argued that today art is valued as it has never been valued before. Discuss with respect to art works which have appeared on the London art market over the past several years.”
Deadline
Applications to the AHRC studentship must be made via email to the following address: AHRC2011@sothebysinstitute.com and must be received no later than 5pm on Friday, 15 July 2011.
