SUPERSWEET PROJECT: RECYCLE

PROJECT BRIEF

SUPERSWEET has an estimated 1,000 copies of back issues stored at our offices. PROJECT: RECYCLE aims to turn those copies into works of art and fashion. Targeting universities and colleges across the U.K, SUPERSWEET is advertising the project as a design competition, encouraging students to create either a piece of art or item of fashion using just seven copies, their imagination and up to five other materials.

Entrants will then photograph final pieces with 2 images that best represent their work. They’ll be uploaded onto the magazine where readers will vote for the most imaginative works through our poll. A panel of judges, including sponsors of the competition, will then vote for the top 5 in each category. Winners will be exhibited in Beyond Retro, a prominent retro-fashion shop with an exciting multi-media space open to exhibitions at the Cheshire Street outlet. This will be a weeklong period during February 2010, enjoying a highly publicised opening night to celebrate artistic ingenuity and a greener economy! Winning entries will be professionally photographed by prestigious collaborators Total Image Nation and showcased on SUPERSWEET’s digital art gallery throughout February 2010.

The project is set to launch on the 16th of September 2009

PUBLICITY
Recycled posters will advertise the competition on notice boards in student community areas (common rooms, studios, halls of residence) and E-flyers will be circulated. SUPERSWEET will issue a press release and ask of companies, brands and sponsors involved to help increase publicity through issuing press releases of their own, as well as utilizing social networking sites available. Word of mouth never goes amiss, and once the word spreads, we’re sure the hype will increase tenfold as the project gets under way. All brands and sponsors involved must be willing to have their logos included on any promotional material distributed, in the assurance that their association with SUPERSWEET will at all times be represented in an appropriate manner.
