THIS IS WHY WE MEET
an investigation, showcase and celebration of collaborative working practice within the arts
A collaboration between Pat And Trevor and Wieden+Kennedy
In association with the University of the Arts London
Supported by Nokia
About the project
Pat And Trevor are independent curators and associate lecturers at the London College of Communication. Wieden+Kennedy are an independent, international creative agency.
For This Is Why We Meet they will be instigating 6 separate collaborations for each of the colleges within the University of the Arts London. Teams will comprise of 4 students, high-profile alumni and invited industry professionals. The aim of the project is to make a collaborative piece of work, which MUST be interactive. How the teams make these works is where the fun lies. This Is Why We Meet is an experiment.
The original works will be showcased within the Wieden+Kennedy window on Hanbury Street in East London, between 20th July and 31st August 2009.
Who can apply
We welcome applications from ALL students from within the UAL, but particularly from those working in the following areas:
Chelsea:Drawing and Sculpture
LCF: Shoes and Accessories
Camberwell: Ceramics and Textiles
LCC: Sound and Moving Image
Wimbledon: Theatre and Performance
CSM: Fashion
If selected you will be become part of a collaborative team. This Is Why We Meet is an opportunity for you to take part in a high-profile collaborative experiment. Those selected to take part will be working intensively alongside fellow students, tutors and alumni, for a one-week period prior to installation. You will then be showcasing your work to an international public.
