Introduction to Life Casting Course

1 day, 3 techniques & a cast to take away

Date: Wednesday 7th July
Time: 10am to 5pm (with an hour break for lunch)
Maximum group size: 15 people
Cost per student: £60.00 (this covers all materials including your hand cast to take away, life model and VAT)

During the morning you will be introduced to the day and meet the Meltdowns’ staff, before a brief lecture that discusses the use of life casting both within a historical and contemporary context with ready made examples available. You will then create a cast of your own hand using alginate, following a group demonstration which will include information on the processes and materials involved.

In the afternoon you will then be shown the correct techniques for creating a body cast using modroc and a face cast using Body-Double. Supporting information sheets on all the processes taught will be provided at the end of the day.

This course is available to students aged 16 years or over. You do not need to have had any previous artistic experience to attend this course.
