Introducing Bronze Casting (one day course) – Monday 18th January

This one-day session offers an introduction to the bronze casting process, either undertaken as a self-contained course or ideally suited if you’re unsure whether the full programme is for you.

On arrival at Meltdowns you will be introduced to the day and meet with staff, before being given a tour of the facilities. We will then theoretically take you through the process of bronze casting, using ready-made examples with a slide and film presentation. Throughout the rest of the day, you will be provided with a group demonstration on the creation of a simple plaster ‘piece mould’ during which time you will follow through each stage of the process.

Information provided during this day will include different types of moulds and their applications, types of plasters, release agents, ways of treating moulds to accommodate different materials and examples of materials that can be used to fill the moulds.

Location: Ramsgate, Kent.
Time: 10am to 5pm (with an hour break for lunch).
Cost: £65.00 per student (including materials and VAT).
Group size: 10 people.

For all of our education programmes, places are allocated on a first come first served basis.

Deadline: Monday 4th January.
This course is open to artists and anyone aged 16 years or over. You do not need to have had any previous artistic experience to attend this course.
