MELP 2011: Market Enterprise Launch Pad

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is working in partnership with the Prince’s Trust to give young entrepreneurs aged 18 to 25 an opportunity to develop and start up their own business.

The Market Enterprise Launch Pad (MELP) 2011 is here to help you turn your dreams “of being financially independent and your own boss” into a reality. The programme will support you in developing your business idea and will provide you with an opportunity to develop the skills and qualities needed to become a successful entrepreneur.

Utilising one of the Royal Borough’s major assets, Portobello Road Market, the project will consist of practical workshops, visits to businesses to learn from industry professionals and a chance to be mentored by successful entrepreneurs.

The project will start on the 26 September and will last for three weeks. You’ll then be paired with a business mentor who will support you through to the next stage. The final stage of the MELP 2011 is a chance to pitch to a panel of judges who will decide on two winners to receive:

• £1,000 start up funds
• Six months RENT-FREE market stall space on Portobello Market
• Free business insurance
• A comprehensive, ongoing support package from your Prince’s Trust Business Mentor
