Do you have ‘The Next Big Thing’??
The 1st of May sees the official launch of a new online service that connects creative individuals who have great ideas, with media companies looking for ‘the next big thing’.
ideasbank.tv is an online community designed specifically for anyone who has an exciting idea for TV, radio or the internet, or who can dream up fabulous, creative responses to specific media briefs, posed by companies worldwide.
For a fee of £7, creatives can upload their idea on to the Ideasbank. All ideas posted will be read by Ideasbank.tv’s own commissioning editors, as well as production companies and media agencies who are on the look-out for innovative ideas to take to the next level of development and - ultimately – to their audiences.
Ideasbank.tv appreciates that there is a great deal of untapped talent amongst students. To encourage students to join the community and get themselves and their great ideas heard, from 1st of May, the first one hundred ideas posted to the site will get a ‘gold star’ credit, which means you can post your second idea on the website for free. It’s a great opportunity for students to showcase their ideas to commissioners and producers.
ideasbank.tv enables creatives to:
• Build a profile and be seen: Create a profile and virtual shop window for your work. Upload a showreel free of charge.
• Submit ideas for consideration by commissioning editors and producers.
• Choose to have your idea ‘proofed and polished’ before it’s uploaded.
• Add copyright protection of your written proposal, backed by the IP Rights Office.
• Get professional advice: if your idea is picked up by a company, you can choose to be contacted by the company directly, or have Ideasbank.tv negotiate terms on your behalf.
• Collaborate: Brainstorm with other site users, free of charge and just for fun. Write a story with other site users, let your imagine run free - whether it’s funny, risqué, witty, sad... It’s whatever you want it to be – there are no boundaries.
Ideasbank.tv is the brainchild of Belinda Harris and Judith Cook, both media professionals with over 15 years of experience in the TV production industry.
Belinda Harris comments: “ We see that lots of people have great ideas for broadcasting on various platforms, and there are masses of commissioners always on the look out for something new. Ideasbank.tv connects the two. Having said that, Ideasbank.tv is not just about having your ideas heard. There are also great opportunities to respond to companies’ media briefs, post up your own professional profile and showreel, have a bit of fun in the brainstorm – get yourself and your great ideas seen and heard.”
