Garments wanted to charity fashion show
I am working on this great charity project with stylist Nic Jottkant in association with Globe Media Project and searching for students who are from either war countries or have some sort of connection to countries such as Iran, Iraq, Serbia, Kosova, any wartorn countries in Africa, etc etc. and are willing to lend us samples for a fashion show. Ideally we would like the garments to have reference to their own countries.
The aim of the project is to raise awareness of the positive aspects from countries and cultures that have had bad representation in the worlds media in recent years. This negative press may be because of conflict, civil war, dictatorship, poverty etc. Sometimes this is all we hear about that particular country and none of the positive aspects are given coverage.
The fashion show forms one aspect of the project which will showcase talents with a cultural heritage coming from such countries. The idea is to change public opinion within the UK of what these countries have to offer us culturally. The overall aim of the organisation overseeing the project is to try and help refugees into the UK tell their story.
Any money raised on the night goes to Broken Silence - a Sickle Cell charity.
Event date: 1st April
