Final Year Forum

A unique opportunity to ask a panel of Arts London Alumni working in journalism, graphic design, creative enterprise, communications and branding about their first job experiences.
Creative Careers and The Alumni Association in association with ECCA present panellists:

Katy Johnstone, BBC Journalist

Katy works across BBC Radio 4 news programmes, "The World at One", "PM", "The World this Weekend" and "Broadcasting House". Her career began as a reporter at BBC Oxford where she worked in TV and radio. Katy has worked as a producer and reporter on the World Service, and for Radio 4’s consumer programme, "You and Yours".

Alison Coward, ECCA Lead Officer


Alison graduated with a BA Hons degree in Fashion Promotion & Marketing from the University of Central Lancashire. Her early career was spent helping to run a small mail order company that showcased interior, lifestyle and fashion products from UK-based designer-makers. Alison joined Hidden Art in 2003, a support organisation for designer-makers, to manage the membership and training programmes and project manage group exhibitions such as the Hidden Art showcases at 100% Design and the Milan Furniture Fair. After completing a part-time MA in Enterprise and Management for the Creative Arts, Alison joined ECCA as Lead Officer in January 2007.

Jennifer Gunstone Widening Communication

Jennifer is director of Widening Communication, a creative consultancy specializing in work with young people she founded with fellow Central St Martins graduate Dan Chilcott. Since graduating Jennifer has managed a charitable theatre company, designed costumes for community projects and short films, produced theatre, set up a theatre company, completed half an MA and accepted consultancy jobs in education and the arts.

Richie Manu, Creative Director

Richie Manu is a Graphic Designer and Creative Director based in the City specialising in design for print and web. He has worked in the industry for 20 years working on new business accounts and large corporations. He has a Masters Degree in Applied Imagination/Design Studies from Central St. Martins and is also an Associate Lecturer on the course. He is also the founder of Consurgo, a social enterprise aimed at creating and nurturing creative futures.

Matt Heinl, Moving Brands Designer

Matt is currently a Design Director at Moving Brands. His clients range from top 10 global companies to a 3-man Savile Row tailor. He studied Graphic Design at CSM and did a semester exchange at the Cooper Union in NY. Mat’s first full time job was with MB – he started there for work experience more or less straight out of college.
