Do A Dandy, Competition
With the current desire for all things decorative, beautiful and bespoke, and with influence from the V&A’s recent exhibition The Cult of Beauty coupled with the much celebrated decadence of Oscar Wilde, the original dandy, the Victorian dream of an escape to aestheticism has never been more relevant.
Living up to Oscar Wilde’s mission that One Should either be a work of art, or wear a work of art, the Do A Dandy competition is offering Penelope’s fans a chance to create and wear their own art.
To enter the competition and the chance to create your own bespoke slipper email your designs to submissions@foxandsquirrel.com
COMPETITION RULES
1. Any number of coloured threads can be used. Metallic threads are also a possibility, however one solid colour is always the most effective. Remember that the embroidery is to be stitched onto velvet, which has a high pile, so very fine lines can disappear into the base.
2. The maximum measurement of the embroidery is 7cms x 7cms.
3. The embroidery is to be placed in the centre of our Dandy slipper. Left and right foot will have the same design.
4. We recommend you visit www.penelopechilvers.com/bespoke to see the Dandy slipper silhouette, that your embroidery design is to embellish.
5. Penelope Chilvers and a select group of judges in the fashion industry will choose the winner.
6. The winner of the competition will be rewarded with a pair of £350 pair of unique Dandy slippers with their winning design embroidered, in their size, and made in the raw materials of their choice ( from our stock selection of velvet, grosgrain trim, and leather lining) all showing in the Bespoke area of our site.
7. The winner will also be publicised through various media channels and social media linked through Fox & Squirrel, Penelope Chilvers and Chiltern St. Studio press office.
8. Please send in your designs to submissions@foxandsquirrel.com as a PDF or jpeg before the 15th November, 2011.
