Curatorial residency scheme

Hosted by Watermans New Media Gallery in London, this show provides an opportunity for new talent entering the field of digital art and new media production to show their work in a gallery setting. The exhibition includes work ranging from photography, video, animation, interactive works to graphic and communication design.

We are particularly interested in applicants who wish to get involved in curating ENTER 2010, carry out research and develop further their work as well as acquire or increase their skills in working with the public by getting involved in public programmes such as talks, workshops and acting as mentors to the Enter 2010 artists.

The successful applicant will be involved in the selection of artists and will co-curate the ENTER 2010 exhibition. The resident curator will also have the opportunity to use the Media Lab at Watermans and work with professional artists on the Participatory Arts programme to gain teaching experience. The Watermans team and particularly the Head of New Media Arts Development will support the resident throughout the project with advice and mentoring.

Purpose of the residency

This exciting opportunity offers curators the chance to be part of a leading New Media Arts organisation and get involved in the programme. The selected applicant will be offered support to develop further their work and learn new skills. The residency programme will offer also opportunities to meet and work with art professionals.

The resident will be expected to work with the Head of New Media Arts and be involved in the artists selection process for ENTER 2010 exhibition (visiting degree shows, meeting the artists, etc) as well as co-curate the exhibition in November 2010.

Please note there is no fee offered for this residency. Working hours during the residency are flexible and can be agreed at the beginning of the programme.

Interested applicants should email Irini Papadimitriou by Tuesday 4 May with their CV and letter stating why they are interested in the opportunity and how this residency would benefit their work.
