Crafts meets music: call for applications

A new exhibition opportunity: Call for Applications
Deadline for submission: Wed 24 Feb 2010

Craft Central supports and promotes contemporary craft and design through providing exciting exhibitions and events, affordable studio space and sector specific business training. Designers and makers of contemporary craft can benefit from all of these by joining our network; full details are on our website at www.craftcentral.org.uk/membershipbenefits.

Craft Meets Music will be a new exhibition featuring work inspired by music, using musical motifs or including sound showing how music is a source of inspiration in contemporary craft.

Whether it’s classical, pop, world, dance, jazz or street that you like show us how it influences your art. We are looking for existing or new works, small or large, in any craft discipline and from any materials. We are particularly keen to show interactive works that can be touched, pressed, pushed or played!

The Craft Meets Music exhibition will be open 17 – 28 May coinciding with Craft Central’s bi-annual Open Studios event Made in Clerkenwell (21 – 23 May). This event regularly brings in an audience of over 1000 visitors. All work shown in the exhibition may be priced for sale with no commission on sales. Previous exhibitors have found showing work at Craft Central is a great networking opportunity and has led to inclusion in other UK events or exhibitions.

Craft Central will support you in making the most of this artistic opportunity by offering those selected for the exhibition six months complimentary membership to our Designer’s Network as well as free access to our business training between March and May. The programme has a range of one to one and group seminars focused on helping you to develop your creative business.

To apply outline your ideas and other details required (see overleaf) and submit them by the deadline.
If you have any queries regarding your application please contact Kate Osborn craftcentralawards@yahoo.co.uk or 0207 251 0276
