Call for writers

Get your work seen! The Albany is putting a call out for bright new writers with a desire to write for theatre. We are looking for scripts focussing on youth and young people's experiences living in London, a hotly debated topic in the media. The writing selected will be developed by a professional director and actors, finally taking place as a rehearsed reading for a public audience at new writing night, Freshly Squeezed, in the Albany studio on 8th April 2010.

And there's more
One piece will be chosen on the night by the audience and expert panel (award winning scriptwriter Che Walker, respected director Stef O Driscol and renowned writer and performer Zena Edwards) and will be given the opportunity to have a priceless one to one session with an established playwright.

What we are looking for
Open to writers of any level of experience and age and from all backgrounds. We are particularly interested in writers with a poetry/spoken word background, but all are welcome as long as the piece is written to be performed!

What you need to do to take part
Submit an initial ten pages of your writing - that can either be a short piece or an extract of something larger. Each piece submitted will be carefully read and considered and we promise to get back to you so get writing!

Submission deadline:
Send your ten pages by Monday 8th March:
Email: programming@thealbany.org.uk
Post: The Albany, Douglas Way, Deptford, SE8 4AG

FREE WORKSHOP: Writer's Block
16th February 6:30 - 8:30 pm
Want to submit your writing for Freshly Squeezed but stuck for ideas? Join Stef O Driscol and Zena Edwards as they discuss the challenges of writing about the young, urban experience for theatre.
