Call for applicants
Recent UK graduates (2008 and 2009) are invited to submit work for Fresh - a major exhibition launched by the inaugural British Ceramics Biennial. Fresh will showcase the best in new ceramic work at an exhibition at the Biennial Exhibition Space, Emma Bridgewater Pottery, Stoke-on-Trent from 3 October - 13 December. The deadline for entries is 29 June, and information and application forms are available at: www.britishceramicsbiennial.com
The British Ceramics Biennial is a major new project based in Stoke-on-Trent designed to showcase and support the breadth of contemporary ceramics. BCB will initiate and run a five year programme of events and activities including Fresh, focusing on a showcase Biennial Festival of international standing from October - December in 2009, 2011 and 2013.
Fresh will promote high quality graduate work to both a professional and public audience with work on display throughout the duration of the 2009 Biennial. Applications are invited from across the spectrum of ceramic work - including studio pottery, tableware, industrial design, figurative and abstract sculpture and installation. The exhibition, curated by British Ceramics Biennial Co-Directors Barney Hare Duke and Jeremy Theophilus, will be an important platform for emerging talent in the field, and provide exhibitors with unique networking opportunities within this major new ceramics Festival.
Applications are welcome from anyone who has gradated in or after 2008 from Higher Education Institutes studying ceramics or related clay-based activities (including post graduate programmes) at colleges within the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.
Work will be selected by a panel including Helen Felcey, Chair of the National Association of Ceramics in Higher Education (NACHE, a co-organiser of Fresh), David Sanderson, NACHE member, and British Ceramics Biennial Co-Directors Barney Hare Duke and Jeremy Theophilus.
