Bologna Children's Book Fair 2010

Bologna Children’s Book Fair is pleased to announce a special event, an homage paid to Gianni Rodari on the 30th anniversary of his death.

Gianni Rodari (1920 – 1980), winner of the 1970 Andersen Award, had been an outstanding innovator. His fairy tales, short stories, novels have been translated all over the world.
In recent years, the international publishing industry has published pictures books of good quality drawn from his rich asset of fairy tales and novels and assigned to young illustrators the task to revitalize this contemporary classic author.

Looking to the tradition and to the future, Bologna Children’s Book Fair promotes a contest opened to established illustrators or to students. The Entrants should submit one plate related to a tale by the great Italian author.

The International Jury of the annual Illustrators Exhibition will select the works to be featured in the exhibition The Grammar of Figures. A catalogue will be dedicated to the exhibition to be held in the city centre during the Bologna Children’s Book Fair.

Moreover, the Italian publisher of Gianni Rodari, Edizioni EL – Einaudi Ragazzi – Emme Edizioni, will assign a picture book to a selected young artist.

We encourage a large number of students to participate!

Deadline: 30 November 2009
