Belleville Concept Store Call for artists
First exhibition : Duralex. Lunch time game in the canteen
July – August 2011
Belleville Boutique and café is a French, independent concept store bringing French charm and style to shopping experience and a coffee.
With a style boutique, an art gallery and a coffee, the venue is located in the borders of the luxurious Notting Hill area and vibrant atmosphere of Portobello road in London.
We currently recruiting a selection of bright young talents. We want to collaborate with all kind of artists ; painters, designers, fashion, graphists, illustrators, ceramists, sculptors, photographers, fine arts, mixed media artists…
The art space and boutique are dedicated to the original concept in which we propose to customers unique pieces and present artists’ work thought exhibitions and displays. As part of this concept, we looking for new and unexpected collaborations with creators.
You will be asked to work on iconic items including housewares, furnitures, ceramics, textiles, accessories, lighting, jewellery, etc. The object must be usable but arty to be able to become fashionable as well as a hot item. You will benefited of a space to sell your work as “piece unique” in the boutique in the middle of the stores’s quality items. It’s a collective project but your product will be featured with explanations about you, your work and technique and use window display in collaboration with managers.
We also give you the opportunity to show your personal work in greater depth in the gallery/art space, with the freedom to experiment it as you like during two weeks. Private view and global communication will be support by the company.
Our first project will be the transformation of a french iconic glass (well known for its unbreakable tumblers, Duralex gain an international awareness since 1945). If you are selected, you will receive one glass (or more it’s depend of your creation’s needs) to customize. Project for this year will include cushions, crockery, toys and wall papers. We would like to create a data base of artists interested in our concept, so don’t hesitate to send your work for our next exhibitions.
In these turbulent times it is more challenging than ever to launch a career in art, design or fashion. Belleville boutique give you the opportunity to show what you are worth. Our philosophy is to help artists to promote their art, to find a place in a market place overflowing with mass produced goods. You’ll add soul by use of these goods as a basis of your creation and have a wider exposure to an audience beyond the art world. The aim is also to build relationships with brands we work with, introduce your creations and inspire commissions.
You will be selected by professionals, creative and buyers. If selected you will be invited to interviews. Retail prices will be set up with each artist and we take a commission on sells. Products will be on sale for a period of two months and a written contract with awareness of copyright issues will be in place.
If you are interested, please get in touch with Herve at bellevilleapanam@yahoo.co.uk with details and images of your work.
Deadline is the end of May.
Please find enclosed pictures of the glasses and informations about the brand.
