Application for 2009 New Designer Fashion Grand Prix

In 2008, we had entries from over 38 countries worldwide, and over 13,000 design drawings entries. This competition is co-sponsored by the Tokyo metropolitan government and supported by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in Japan, and other supportive companies of the fashion industries. Along with the contest, we started the Support Measures Program from 2008 for the finalists to because an independent designer. We would like to point out some special features of the contest as follows:

Special Features

(1) The applicants are to submit design drawing with sample fabric swatch for entry.

(2) Applicants who pass the preliminary selection are invited to Tokyo to present their creation in a fashion show at the Final Selection on Oct. 24 (Sat) at Tokyo Midtown Hall (same venue as Tokyo Fashion Week Collection)

(3) Transportation (Roundtrip flight ticket) and hotel room for the stay in Tokyo are provided

(4) Prize (cash prize and certificate)

1,000,000 Yen for the Grand Prix (1 person):

300,000 Yen for Prize of Excellence for Menswear category 惻Womenswear category (2 persons):

100,000 Yen for Workmanship Prize (5 persons):

50,000 Yen for Honorable mention Prize (20 persons)

(3) Finalists are granted opportunities to various support measures.

(sponsorship for entry fee in joint exhibitions (Tokyo), participation in seminars and exchange sessions, etc)
